Optimal Design of a Hybrid Energy System for Economic and Environmental Sustainability of Onshore Oil and Gas Fields

The pollution caused by gas flaring is hazardous to the health of flora, fauna, and humans settled around site. Gas also incurs economic loss as natural gas, an energy source, wasted in flares. Furthermore, unreliable electrical infrastructure a roadblock for oil companies attempting achieve their production targets. This paper presents framework design hybrid systems (HES) which utilize flare waste along with locally available renewable sources generate electricity. A novel dispatch strategy suit requirements fields has been used real-time simulations optimization HES. As test case, six different configurations, modelled two sites, Lakwa Geleky Assam—India, were analyzed compared on basis environmental factors. best suitable configuration comprised 2000 kW solar photovoltaic (PV) panel sets, one 200 microturbine, 30 microturbines, grid connection. proposed system economically outperformed existing power area 35.52% terms net present cost. Moreover, it could save 850 tons carbon dioxide emissions annually, fraction 93.7% total generation. Owing these merits, presented technique would be promising option generation electricity from mitigate pollution.
